Ethiopia: Three power plants to start generating power this year

three hydro electric power projects would generate power in Ethiopia this year.

Mine and Enery Minister, Alemayehu Tegenu said, Tekeze Hydro electric generation station, entirely funded by the Ethiopian government, will be inaugurated in the coming Saturday. It has the capacity to generate 300 Mega watts.

Some 95 percent of the construction of Tana Beles multipurpose hydro electric generation stations has already been completed.

The minister told ENA that Tekeze, Gilegel Ghibe II and Tana Beles Power Generation stations will begin generating power.

The power generation stations have the capacity to generate over 1000 mega watt electric power that will address the shortage of power in the country.He said the government's effort to address shortage of electric power generation is exemplary to other African countries. (ENA)
