EPRDF Passes Decision On Five Year Plan of Action


The Executive Committee of the ruling party, EPRDF passed decisions on the five-year perspective plan of action after an intensive deliberation in its session held here on Monday.

In a press statement it sent to ENA, the committee said the front has discussed and passed decision on 2003-2007 EC plan of action.

It was pointed during the discussion that the country has managed to bring a change which has not been seen before in the history of Ethiopia by registering faster economic growth in the last five years and enhancing the system of democracy in the country. However, there are signs of challenges that originated from the very development achievement itself.

According to the statement, it was indicated in the document that it is required to tackle challenges and get further development achievements in the years ahead.

The document stressed the need that concerted efforts are highly needed to achieve the vision of the nation, making Ethiopia among middle income economies by the year 2025.

The document has also detailed issues on how to accomplish the five-year plan of action.

The Executive committee has also stressed the need to register faster economic growth by tackling impediments and achieving Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as well as increasing education and health coverage during the reported period.

It also underlined the importance of ensuring democracy and creating conducive working atmosphere, among others.

The committee has endorsed the document with unanimous vote after an in-depth discussion.

It also decided that detailed plan of action be prepared based on the five year perspective plan.
