Registration of voters for the upcoming national elections has begun on Saturday across the country, the Office of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said.

NEBE told ENA that 41,361 polling stations have been equipped with the necessary materials and trained election executives to register the voters.

Public relations section head with NEBE, Mohammed Abdurahman told ENA later on Saturday that the public should exercise the right to vote, which resulted from the existing democratic system.

Mohammed also called on the public to actively participate in the efforts to make the election process peaceful.

NEBE Office head Tesfaye Mengesha on his part said registration of voters is underway except in Somali regional state.

Tesfaye said the polling stations are equipped with the necessary materials and trained election executives.(ENA)
