The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said a total of over 22 million voters have been registered across the country until last Monday.

Public relations head with NEBE, Mohammed Abdurrahman told ENA on Wednesday that documents indicate that over one million electorates are being registered daily on average.

He said so far 47 political parties have fielded 864 candidates for parliamentary seats and 145 nominees for regional councils.

Mohammed said 37 independent candidates are registered to compete for seats in the parliament while eight others for regional councils.
