Chairperson of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) Meles Zenawi said the agreement signed by four political parties is binding for contesting parties to make the upcoming election fair and democratic.
The Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) , All Ethiopian Unity Organization (AEUO), the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP) and the Coalition for Unity and Democracy Party (CUDP) signed the code of conduct on election and its implementation strategy document here on Friday .
Speaking at the signing ceremony Meles said the document would abide opposition parties to contest peacefully and legally and enable the ruling party to facilitate fair competition.
Meles said besides endorsing the code of conduct the parties have designed implementation strategy.
He said the agreement is a new chapter for the country and it is an achievement gained through give and take principle among political parties
