Nation celebrates 7th NNPs Day

Bahir Dar December 08/2012 Ethiopia celebrated the 7th Nations', Nationalities' and People's (NNPs) Day in Bahirdar Town of Amhara State Saturday. Speaking at the occasion Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn said the struggle has continued successfuly to build a democratic country suitable for living. The PM said celebration of the Day marks the continuation of this struggle towards creating better Ethiopia. He attributed the success to the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, who introduced policies and strategies, which aim towards development of the country. Speaker of the House of Federation, Kassa Teklebirhan on his part said the secret behind the sustainable economic growth registered over the last consecutive years is the endorsement of the constitution and the establishment of federal system. The objective behind celebrating the Day is to raise awareness among the public about the fruits gained through the constitution and the federal system. The 7th NNPs Day was celebrated for a month, beginning from 10 November 2012, across the country with various assortments in memorial of the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. Ethiopia has decided to celebrate Nations', Nationalities' and Peoples' Day on 9 December since 2007, to commemorate the day of the ratification of its constitution.
